The Doyen of Art has gone

Maqbol Fida Husain 17.Sept 1915 to 9. June 2011

The Doyen of Art has gone
His death is an important event in his life, for - in reality - he has not gone. Not really.
He lives on in our hearts, in our visions, in everyone's life. He has created the image of Modern India.
He lives on for a long time to come.
We have come together to celebrate this important moment in M.F. Husain's life, from close from far. Jamshad, his dear son and artist is amongst us.
We, the art community are deeply grateful for this gesture.
It gives meaning beyond the day.
MF Husain has become a part of the nations soul, although being expelled at the end of a long journey. But then all of India knew how much we are going to miss him. He died a foreigner - a blot on the soul of a nation.

Books will be written about him.
Students have to learn about him in schools
exhibitions and auctions will bear his signature
even in a hundred years from now

The way we look back at Picasso, Paul Klee and Van Gogh,
Soon we'll look back at Husain:
The artist who inspired an entire generation
